Dr James M. Brimson

Welcome to my page. I am a research scientist from the United Kingdom.  I graduated from The University of Bath in 2010 with a Ph.D. from the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology before taking a Postdoctoral position at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. I now have my own lab at Chulalongkorn University, and my research focuses on the Sigma-1 receptor, cancer, neurodegeneration, and natural product research.

Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Hosts International Sigma-1 Receptor Conference

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University successfully hosted the Sigma-1 Receptors & Disease (S1RaD) 2025 international conference on 20–21 February 2025 at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok. The event brought together leading researchers from over 15 countries to discuss the critical role of the Sigma-1 Receptor in various diseases, with 27 scientific presentations exploring its involvement in neurodegeneration, cancer, psychiatric disorders, and drug development. The conference was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tewin Tencomnao, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. Keynote speakers included renowned experts such as Dr. Steve Safrany (Keele University), Prof. Enrique Cobos (University of Granada), Prof. Michael Hayden (Prilenia Therapeutics), Dr. Christopher Missling (Anavex Life Sciences), Assoc. Prof. Angela Reiersen (Washington Univeristy in St. Lous), Lucie Crouzier (University of Montpellier), and Prof. Kenji Hashimoto (Chiba University). Dr. James M. Brimson, Head of the Conference, highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing Sigma-1 Receptor research. The event reinforced Chulalongkorn University’s commitment to fostering international scientific cooperation and supporting cutting-edge biomedical research.
